It was a science and reading lesson custom-made for Halloween month: BKW first graders recently spent some time learning about bats and other nocturnal animals during their library special with Katy Keyser, literacy specialist and English language arts teacher. “Wearing their bat crowns proudly, they are definitely “batty for books!” Keyser said.
Many families face challenges from time to time. BKW is still accepting applications for its Backpack program, which provides weekly assistance to families who are in need of additional food supplies. Food is sent home with students in backpacks.
