This month, elementary students in the Art Adventurers club participated in an impactful project to bring awareness to a special organization within our community. After some initial thought and planning, this unique club of 4-6 grade students decided to create something unique to benefit the Kenneth’s Army, Champions for Children organization. As some may know, Kenneth was a BKW elementary student who tragically lost his life in 2014.

For this project, students were introduced to working with a resin material that was then transformed into key chains and easy-to-use coffee coasters. The items were then offered for sale at the recent BKW PTA Holiday Shoppe with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Kenneth’s Army, Champions for Children. Through their philanthropic creativity, the club was able to raise $130.00. The funds will be presented to the group at a later date. “At BKW, we are always seeking ways to engage our students with creative outlets and this project falls directly in line with our curriculum,” said BKW Elementary School Art Teacher Ms. Teeter. “For this year, we hoped to have some fun in the classroom, while helping to raise awareness and assist our BKW community.”
