Thank you for voting on the budget, buses and board elections

Dear BKW School District Community,

Your Board of Education and district administration would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who came out to vote on the 2019-20 budget, the bus purchase proposition and Board of Education election on May 21. Also, congratulations to newly-elected board members Rebecca Miller and Matthew Tedeschi, and to candidates Mackenzie Hempstead and Robin Becker for participating in the election process.

Our community continually demonstrates its unwavering commitment to educational excellence and dedication to our children. With the budget’s passage, the district can preserve and even enhance programmatic offerings and current staffing while operating under the state-mandated tax levy cap. The Board of Education and administration worked closely together to prepare a budget that upholds the quality BKW is known for while exercising fiscal prudence for all taxpayers.

Our district remains committed to providing an enriching and comprehensive education for all of its students, ensuring their preparedness to enter the 21st century workforce.

Your support reminds me again of when BKW Class of 2018 valedictorian Marcy Forti spoke at graduation, acknowledging the role others played in her success. She told the audience, “I am because you are.”

Those words taught the entire BKW community—whether as teachers, parents, fellow students, administrators, or community members, we must act, knowing our efforts and attitudes contribute to our students’ success. This is our call to action—They Are Because We Are.

Once again, thank you to all of the local residents who voted and demonstrated their support for the district’s 2019-20 budget, bus purchase proposition and Board of Education candidates. Thank you for continuing to support our students’ success.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy Mundell
BKW Superintendent of Schools
