COVID-19 case reporting – Jan. 31- Feb. 4, 2022

February 7, 2022

Dear BKW families,

The administration has been notified that 6 individuals in the elementary school and 4 individuals in the secondary school tested positive for COVID-19 during the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 4, 2022.

Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive. We know it is important to keep you informed while also respecting the federal and state laws that prohibit the release of confidential medical information.

Please be reminded that the process of contact tracing has been suspended by the NYS DOH. We will continue to notify you of positive cases reported to our schools on a weekly basis. We also encourage parents to monitor children for symptoms regularly. As a means to maintain a safe environment, masking continues to be a requirement in schools. We also have supplies of rapid tests that have been provided by the state. If you believe your school age child should be tested, we can assist you in that process by providing the test for you.

We appreciate your patience and flexibility in the face of many changes to protocols in a short period of time. Should you have questions about any changes in the protocols, please contact your building principal.

Regards,

Timothy Mundell, Ed.D
Superintendent of Schools
