Counseling sessions being scheduled; teachers will contact parents

Dear BKW Families,

The sudden passing over the weekend of our dear BKW second grade student has shaken us all to the core.  This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our youngest students.

Our school has a Crisis Intervention Team made up of trained professionals to help with the needs of students, parents, and school personnel at difficult times such as this. We are in the process of scheduling Google Meets across grade levels with teachers and members of our BKW Counseling Team to talk with the students about this event.

Your child’s teacher will let you know the date and time of this Google Meet. Please know that this meeting is voluntary.  It is our recommendation that a parent or guardian be available to speak with the student afterwards, as they may have questions or upsetting feelings following the conversation.

If your child or family needs additional support or you would prefer to have this conversation in a one-on-one setting, our BKW Counseling Staff is available to do so.  Their contact information is listed below.

We encourage you, as parents, to also feel free to use our resources that are provided on this website.

We are deeply saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Landry
Principal
