BKW Central Schools has captured a national award for its “They Are Because We Are” Facebook video series campaign launched this school year.
The district is a recipient of a 2019 Golden Achievement Award from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
NSPRA’s Golden Achievement Award recognizes exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing and engagement. Few of these awards are given out each contest.
The video series was produced by the district and its Capital Region BOCES Communication team.
What was the “They Are Because We Are” campaign all about?
When Class of 2018 valedictorian Marcy Forti spoke at graduation, she acknowledged the role others played in her success. She told the audience, “I am because you are.”
Those words reminded the entire BKW community that we must live into our roles—whether as teachers, parents, fellow students, administrators, or community members. We must act, knowing our efforts and attitudes contribute to our students’ success. This was our call to action – “They Are Because We Are.”
