BKW Secondary School students to shift to remote only learning Friday, Dec. 3

December 2, 2021

Dear BKW Secondary School students, families and staff,

As a result of a high number of students being quarantined by the Albany County Department of Health due to exposure to or testing positive for COVID-19, all BKW Secondary School students will shift to a Remote Only Learning schedule on Friday, December 3. This means:

  • Students in grades 7-12 should not report to school that day but should sign in with teachers for remote instruction according to their normal school schedule
  • BKW Secondary School teachers should not come to the building and instruct students remotely on Friday
  • Secondary students in need of Chromebooks should contact the school office
  • Secondary students attending BOCES special ed programs will be picked up and dropped off at their homes on Friday. Secondary students attending BOCES CTE should ride into school on the elementary bus runs and will be dropped at home in the afternoon
  • During this shift to remote instruction BKW custodial staff will conduct a deep cleaning of the school and offices
  • This temporary remote schedule does not affect the Elementary School or any offices

Please remember that moves like these may become necessary at any time if a significant number of BKW faculty/staff are placed in mandatory quarantine, and a staffing shortage requires that we temporarily shift a class or school building to a fully remote setting.

Please continue to conduct at-home screenings and maintain personal awareness of COVID symptoms for your children. As always, the health and safety of the students, staff, and community in BKW remains our top priority.

Sincerely,

Timothy Mundell, Ed. D
BKW Superintendent of Schools
