Author Candace Christiansen helped bring local history to life for Berne-Knox-Westerlo 4th graders Monday. Sponsored by the Friends of the Berne Library, Ms. Christiansen spoke to students about the local history of the area, including a book she wrote called Calico and Tin Horns, which tells the story of the Anti-Rent Wars through the eyes of a young girl.
Ms. Christiansen spoke to students about the Anti-Rent Wars and the role the farmers in the area played in them before reading them Calico and Tin Horns. Thank you to Ms. Christiansen and the Friends of the Berne Library for providing this great opportunity for our students!
