On Monday, November 10, district residents will vote to approve a $5.142 million capital project to replace the elementary and secondary school roofs.
Earlier last year, the district conducted its Building Conditions Survey, which is performed every five-to-ten years to review campus buildings and infrastructure. Part of those findings has shown that the roofing for both the elementary and secondary school buildings needs to be replaced. The current roofs have reached their extended lifespan of thirty years.
In the northeast, the expected lifespan of a roof, considering local weather conditions, typically ranges from 15 to 20 years.
The new roofing systems will provide enhanced durability, improved thermal insulation, and greater energy efficiency, while also reducing long-term maintenance costs and minimizing the risk of weather-related damage or disruption. In addition, the roof replacement will continue to keep our campus buildings and classroom resources weather-protected for the next 30 years.

Key Project Takeaways:
- The district will receive approximately 79% in building aid, which will help alleviate financial impact on the community .
- Over the past several years, our facilities team has worked diligently to extend the life of the roof. Unfortunately, it is no longer financially sensible to continue to patch the roof and repair any damage caused by water in the building. A complete renovation is required to improve infrastructure and building integrity.
- The district is selecting this timeframe, if approved, to obtain fair and accurate bid estimates to replace the campus roofs, providing the best value for our school community.
- The project is expected to be completed by September 2026.
Additional information concerning the project vote will be shared through our social media channels, fall newsletter, Superintendent Updates, and by visiting this capital project web page.
