School Safety Assemblies to be held March 1st and 2nd

Dear BKW Community,

Just before Winter Break, Superintendent Mundell shared with you our combined heartbreak over the latest deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, and our commitment to keeping your children safe. Over the break, we know that our students have undoubtedly heard or read about the events in Parkland and seen the stories of survivors and we understand that they may have questions regarding what they’ve seen and heard.

In response to this, the Secondary School will be having two assemblies on Thursday, March 1st to give students in grades 8-12 the opportunity to ask questions and for us to share with them the District’s crisis plan. Representatives from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office will also be at the assemblies to answer questions, along with Dr. Kristin Mack.

A special assembly will be held on Friday morning for the 7th grade students who will be on a field trip on Thursday.

Please know that the District is committed to maintaining a healthy, nurturing, and safe learning environment for all students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office at (518) 872-1482.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Dr. Mark Pitterson
Secondary School Principal
