Helping children with online learning

To help parents and guardians support their children’s learning at home, the New York State Education Department’s Office of Special Education is sharing the following resources provided by the IRIS Center of Vanderbilt University.

The IRIS Center has created the following tip sheets:

My child says she doesn’t like online learning. How can I help?
This tip sheet offers practical ideas and strategies for helping children adapt to some of the challenges and frustrations of learning in a virtual environment.

How can I help my elementary child stay focused during online learning?
Learning at home via a virtual environment can make it hard for younger children to remain focused. This tip sheet offers some ideas to help.

The IRIS Center, supported by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs and located at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, develops and disseminates free, engaging online resources about evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices to support the education of all students, particularly struggling learners and those with disabilities.
