No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy

Assignment: Address the following statement in a well-thought out writing piece:

In great works of literature, no scene of violence exists for its own sake. 

Using No Country for Old Men address this statement and show how it confronts the reader with a scene or scenes of violence and how this contributes to the meaning of the novel.  Remember to use proper format (introduction, body and conclusion), text evidence and analysis of text evidence.
