2025-2026 Board of Education Members

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District Board of Education is a five-member board elected by the community to establish policy and direct the administration of the district’s schools. Members of the BKW school board serve three-year terms.

Matthew Tedeschi, Board of Education President

Term expires on June 30th, 2028.

Matthew Tedeschi has dedicated ten years on the Board of Education at Berne-Knox-Westerlo and seven years serving on the Board at Capital Region BOCES. Professionally, he serves as Vice President and Senior Sales Executive at Marshall Sterling Insurance, where he brings extensive experience in the insurance industry and client relations. Outside of his professional and school community commitments, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Sara and his family, especially his two grandsons. He also takes every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Lisa Joslin, Board of Education Vice President

Term expires on June 30th, 2027.

Lisa M. Joslin is a member of the Berne‑Knox‑Westerlo Central School District Board of Education, where she helps support responsible governance and student-centred decision‑making. She works professionally as a Health and Safety Manager at James H. Maloy, Inc., bringing expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and organisational safety leadership. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University and maintains professional credentials including CHST, GSP, and ASHM.

A graduate of the Berne‑Knox‑Westerlo Central School District, she and her husband have two children who are also district graduates, and she additionally serves the community as a volunteer firefighter with involvement in fire service health and safety initiatives through the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, reinforcing her commitment to safe learning environments and community preparedness.

Kimberly Lovell

Term expires on June 30th, 2026.

Kimberly Lovell is currently in her ninth year of service on the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Board of Education. A dedicated educator, Kim is a Special Education teacher at the Greenville Central School District. She holds a Master’s Degree in Literacy and Special Education from the University at Albany.

Beyond the classroom and boardroom, Kim is deeply committed to her community. She serves as a Fire Commissioner for the Town of Berne and regularly volunteers with local youth organisations.

Kim and her husband reside in East Berne, where they own and operate Hilltown Tech, an IT company. Their three children all attend BKW and are proud Bulldogs!

Rebecca Miller

Term expires on June 30th, 2028.

Rebecca Miller has proudly served on the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District Board of Education since 2019. She lives in Berne with her husband and their two children, who both attend BKW Secondary School. Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies. She also obtained a provisional New York State Public Teacher Certification in Art before choosing to focus on raising her family as a stay-at-home mom.

Today, she is a small business owner who enjoys giving back through volunteering and community involvement. Rebecca deeply values the close-knit, caring nature of the Berne-Knox-Westerlo community and is proud to be a Bulldog and to be raising her family here. As a board member, she is committed to listening, learning, and always putting the needs of BKW students first.
