The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Elementary School was listed as one of the ‘Top 10’ elementary schools in the Capital Region. Recently, the U.S. News & World Report has released its 2026 Best Elementary and Middle School rankings, and the district’s elementary school ranks ninth in this year’s report. As part of its research, U.S. News & World Report reviews approximately 47,000 public elementary schools and 23,000 middle schools across the nation. You can view the full report here.
“The 2026 Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings highlight institutions that excel in fostering student achievement and providing exceptional learning environments for all,” said LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for Education at U.S. News. “These rankings offer communities and families valuable insights into schools dedicated to preparing students for future success.”
The publication reviews several categories in its selection process, which primarily relies on yearly assessment scores. Additional educational items reviewed are student backgrounds and student-to-teacher ratios.
“This selection recognizes the hard work and dedication of our teachers, faculty, and staff,” shared Superintendent of Schools Mrs. Kane. “We are proud to receive this distinction, and we will continue to work tirelessly for our students’ success.”
