The BKW boys track and field team secured two state titles and set new school records at the state track and field championships this past weekend.

Senior Kole Irwin won the Class C state championship in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.74 seconds. Irwin’s winning time set a new school record and qualified him for the Federation Championship, where he competed against athletes from all state divisions. With a time of 47.91 seconds, Irwin took third in the Federation Championship.

The 4×100-meter relay team also won a state title and set a new school record with a time of 42.33 seconds. The championship lineup featured lead-off runner Aggelos Lefkaditis, Nick Quay on the second leg, Patrick Lendrum on the third leg, and Irwin running anchor, with Joaquin Abraham serving as the alternate.

The track and field team earned two other podium finishes in the Class C 100-meter finals with Irwin finishing second in the state, and Lefkaditis finishing fourth.

“This was a monumental weekend for BKW athletics, and we could not be prouder of our student-athletes and coaching staff,” said Athletic Director Tom Galvin.
