The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District athletic teams were recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) as Scholar-Athlete teams for the 2025-26 fall season. To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete team, the average of 75% of the roster must be 90.00 or higher for the marking period. The fall athletic teams were recently highlighted in the district’s Fall Sports Review, which can be found here. You can access the full listing of NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete teams here.
“The Scholar-Athlete program remains one of the most meaningful recognitions we provide as an Association,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “The dedication shown by these student-athletes, balancing rigorous academic responsibilities with their commitments to interscholastic athletics, is truly remarkable.”
The Scholar-Athlete Program, now in its 33rd year, continues to emphasize the role of academic excellence within education-based athletics.
We would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of our district teachers, coaches, and families for allowing our student-athletes to be successful both in and out of the classroom.
