Absentee and early mail ballots available for budget vote

On May 19, BKW residents will vote on the 2026-27 proposed budget, a bus proposition and elect two members to the Board of Education. Absentee and early mail ballot applications are now available for the vote.

Voters who wish to vote by absentee or early mail ballot are required to complete applications to receive ballots. To receive an application, contact District Clerk Anne Farnam at (518) 872-1293 or anne.farnam@bkwschools.org. Completed absentee and early mail ballots must be received by May 19, 2026, at 5 p.m.

Absentee ballots

Absentee ballots will be automatically mailed to voters who have registered through their respective county Board of Elections for absentee ballots due to permanent illness or disability. All others must submit an absentee ballot application to the district clerk indicating the reason for the request. Applications must be received no later than May 12, 2026, for a ballot to be mailed to the voter. For absentee ballot requests after that date, please contact the district clerk.

Early mail ballots

Early mail ballots may be obtained by completing the early mail ballot application and submitting it to the district clerk. Applications must be received no later than May 12, 2026, for a ballot to be mailed to the voter. For early mail ballot requests after that date, please contact the district clerk.

Any U.S. citizen who is 18 years of age or older and a resident of the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the date of the vote is eligible to cast a ballot in the budget vote. Qualified voters must be registered. Those who are registered for the general elections are automatically registered for school votes.

In person voting will take place on Tuesday, May 19, from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. in the Elementary School cafeteria.
