During September, the district welcomed the BMX experiences of pro riders and national spokesmen Tony Hoffman and Mannie Noguiera. In two separate presentations during the month, both held the same spirit and conviction when addressing BKW students, sharing their experiences and perspectives to focus on how to be successful and yourself.
First up is Mannie Noguiera. Manny is incredibly well-known for his BMX presentation in schools throughout the northeast. He focuses on more than the overall presentation and shares words to promote anti-bullying and to make the right lifestyle changes to lead positive lives. Mannie Noguiera shared his positive mindset and BMX talents with BKW students and staff.
In addition to school assemblies, Mannie has also performed hundreds of shows aboard a cruise ship for Royal Caribbean Cruises, and in 2019, joined the circus performing for Cirque Mechanics in Hong Kong. Today, Mannie performs for thousands of students each year in New England, New York, and New Jersey through his company, Mannie Nogueira BMX Shows LLC. Lastly, we introduce Tony Hoffman. Tony’s story began in 2008, and he has kept his word to himself to be a positive force for communities across the nation.
According to his bio, Tony Hoffman was paroled by the California Department of Corrections after serving a two-year sentence for a drug-related robbery. Tony Hoffman taking a moment to address BKW Secondary School students during his campus visit in Sept. While incarcerated, Tony set four goals: to Race BMX professionally, go to the Olympics, start a non-profit called the Freewheel Project, and become a professional mental health and substance abuse speaker. He reached all of those goals and shares his story of redemption and focuses on making others feel impactful in their own words and actions.
