Dear BKW families,

Yesterday, the unspeakable happened in a Texas elementary school. Today, even through our shock, we grieve and mourn with the families of the students and staff that lost their lives. We do not know all there is to know about the situation. However, let us lift up the entire Uvalde community with our hearts and spirit, as we are all tied together in this country.

In our BKW community, the connections we have with each other are so very important. Let us take a moment to refocus ourselves on each other, our schools, and our community. The safety and security of our students and staff is our first priority each day. And, although we can take proactive measures in an attempt to prevent tragedies like what occurred yesterday, the even more important work is in staying connected and taking care of each other, even for the unseen challenges that so many people are experiencing in these times. Let us commit to staying kind to one another, as none of us knows the burden being carried by anyone with whom we interact.

I won’t pretend to know all the answers to school shootings in America. I am as confused and shocked as everyone. I do know that faith and fellowship strengthen us individually and collectively, Let’s commit to each other and our community. By standing together in the face of uncertainty, we can be both a shield of protection and a beacon of light. Uvalde needs us for that purpose today…

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Dr. Timothy Mundell
