Principal Landry’s message – Nov. 12, 2021

November 12, 2021

Dear BKW Parent/Guardian,

Welcome to November! It is so hard to believe that we are three months into the school year already. It is a wonderful time to reflect and give thanks for the many blessings in our lives and I am certainly grateful to be working with the amazing BKW children, teachers, staff and community.

The NYS Education Department recently released the 3-8 state test scores from last spring. If your student took these tests you will find a copy of the scores with this letter [sent home to parents/guardians]. Please remember these tests were modified and may not be a true representation of your child’s abilities. Hopefully, you were able to attend parent/teacher conferences on November 2nd and received valuable feedback from your child’s teacher regarding their current progress. Please remember you can schedule a meeting at any point during the year if concerns arise.

As a reminder, the annual PTA Follett Book Fair begins on Monday. Students will visit the book fair in the secondary library with Mrs. Keyser during their library time. If you have questions, please reach out to her at: katy.keyser@bkwschools.org.

Please be aware, students will dismiss 15 minutes early on Wednesday, November 24th, to practice their annual Early Dismissal drill. Buses will be departing school at 2:30 p.m.

These are indeed unique times and the pandemic has presented our students with a variety of challenging experiences. We are proud of their resiliency and appreciative of the support and understanding we have received from our parents and community.

My best,
Mrs. Landry
Principal
