Six Berne-Knox-Westerlo students win awards at SUNY Cobleskill competition

Berne-Knox-Westerlo students took part in the 12th Annual A group of students pose for a picture after competing at SUNY CobleskillSUNY Cobleskill Agriculture and Natural Resources High School Day on September 29th. 28 Berne-Knox-Westerlo students went up against more than 500 students from more than 20 schools across the state.

Our students took home six awards in the following four categories:

  • Liz Lendrum – 1st Place – 4-Wheel Wagon Tractor DrivingStudents hold their awards after a competition at SUNY Cobleskill
  • Ryan Stansfield – 1st Place – Landscape Design
  • Breanna Larghe & Samantha Filkins – 1st Place – Equine Competition Team
  • Amanda Conley & Kayleigh Reynolds-Flynn – 3rd Place – Equine Competition Team
  • Breanna Larghe – 2nd Place – Equine Competition Individual
  • Samantha Filkins – 3rd Place – Equine Competition Individual

Other contests that our students competed in included: Forest Tree Identification, Cut Flowers Identification, Dairy Judging, Food Identification, Small Engines Troubleshooting, Hydraulic & Construction Equipment Operation, and the Pie Bake-off Competition.A student operates a backhoe during a competition at SUNY Cobleskill

Berne-Knox-Westerlo students also had the chance to tour the SUNY Cobleskill campus and take part in a number of demonstrations.
