Statement About Educational Philosophy
A good teacher motivates students to become better students and citizens. First and foremost, a teacher is a role model who encourages and inspires students to become excellent people. In an academic sense, a teacher motivates in many ways the first is by providing constant challenges in the classroom. These challenges must be difficult enough to require a great deal of effort yet not beyond the student’s ability, as frustration will occur.  A good teacher also allows students to have a certain degree of control over their work. This may include giving topic choices when doing projects or presentations. Finally, a teacher must approach new material in a way that peaks students’ curiosity. New topics should always be presented in a way that strikes a balance between the unknown and making connections back to prior knowledge.

Statement About Educational Philosophy
For me, one of the best ways to reach students is through connections. These connections are made by example, demonstration, and most importantly hands-on learning. Most students are more apt to grasp a concept when they can physically manipulate relevant objects. Learning is also fostered when class information can be directly related to personal experience. (ex) “Why does the sun set look orange?” or “Why do steel ships float?” Every student who makes an effort in my class will be a success. This does not always translate to good grades, but hard workers are successes in life.

I believe that we as educators should do every thing possible to educate a student to their fullest potential. We as adults and professionals must be able to recognize a student's potential and when they can go no further. At this time we need to prepare them to face the world so they can survive and not be a burden on society. We all need to be involved with the student because education is a partnership!
