November 2017 – Meet with budget builders and distribute budget guidelines
December 4, 2017 – Meet with budget committee (preliminary budget presentation possibly by budget builders)
January 4, 2018 – Meet with budget committee to discuss parameters
January 8, 2018 – Meet with Board of Education to discuss parameters
January 2018 – Meet with budget builders at various times throughout the month
January 29, 2018 – Budget builders submit program budget composite to Business Office
February 12, 2018 – Present 2018-19 preliminary budget forecast and budget assumptions to the Board of Education
March 1, 2018 – Submit 2018-19 calculation for tax levy limit to Office of State Comptroller, Tax & Finance, and SED
March 12, 2018 – Present 2018-19 operational and general support budget to the Board of Education for review and comment. Present 2018-19 debt service and employee benefits budget to the Board of Education for review and comment. Present 2018-19 instructional and special education budget to the Board of Education for review and comment
April 1-8, 2018 – Finalize 2018-19 educational plan and budget
April 2018 – Prepare absentee ballot applications, absentee ballot, related envelopes, and directions
April 9, 2018 – Final draft of budget presented to the Board of Education, appointment of clerks and inspectors of elections for budget vote. Deadline for submission of petitions to be placed on the ballot. Inform candidates of legal requirement for all candidates for election to the Board of Education to file sworn statements of campaign contributions and distribute informational material. Budget adoption by the Board of Education. Budget document made available to the public
April 10, 2018 – Property tax report submitted to SED
April 13, 2018 – Property tax report card must be submitted to local newspaper
April 17, 2018 – Deadline for submissions of petitions for nominations of Board of Education candidates
May 2018 – Mail district newsletter. Prepare voting machine inserts and transmit to the county Board of Elections
May 7, 2018 – Budget Hearing
May 8, 2018 – Budget notice mailed to eligible voters
May 10, 2018 – District clerk will maintain the list of names of the residents who were given absentee ballots and make the list available for public inspection. Second sworn statement of campaign contributions or loans by candidates for members of the Board of Education to be filed with the District Clerk and Commissioner of Education. Sworn statements of campaign contributions or loans in excess of $1,000 must be received before the vote dates and not previously reported must be filed with the District Clerk and Commissioner of Education withing twenty-four hours of receipt by candidates for membership on the Board of Education.
May 15, 2018 – Statewide annual meeting/board election/budget vote day
June 14, 2018 – Last date to file with the District Clerk and Commissioner of Education final sworn statement of campaign contributions by candidates for membership on Board of Education
June 19, 2018 – Statewide budget re-vote day
July 1, 2018 – Implement 2018-19 Budget
