Dec. 14, 2011
In the spirit of our quest to become master learners and the recent announcement of honor roll students for first quarter, we're encouraging students to continue to attain high academic success and enroll in our National Honor Society (NHS) or National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).
Applications for both honor societies are sent out in the fourth quarter, but prepare for your application now!
As an organization for exemplary students, those in NHS and NJHS participate in various volunteer activities throughout the year. Some examples of service activities members have participated in:
• Tutoring other students
• Helping to collect 41 units of blood at the last Red Cross drive in
September (this saved 123 lives!)
• Making and donating origami to Osh Kosh B’Gosh - for each
one, a piece of clothing was donated to a child who was affected by the
earthquake in Japan

• Raising donations for St. Paul’s Center in Rensselaer, which helps
homeless women and children
• Assisting the Regional Food Bank
Membership in NHS is open to students in grades 11 and 12 and membership in NJHS is open to students in grades 8, 9, and 10.
