BKW students in grades 6 through 9 will be taking Northwestern Evaluation Association benchmark tests throughout the month of November in English and math as part of the NWEA pilot program, in which BKW is participating.
While not state-mandated exams, these online tests administered during class time will give BKW administrators and teachers a snapshot of where students' learning levels are currently for the common core standards. This information will allow teachers to adjust their curriculum accordingly, to better prepare students for the state exams. Exam results will also be used to assess whether a student needs to continue with academic intervention services.
NWEA tests will be administered again mid-year and at the end of the year.
To help students prepare for the tests, please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before and eats breakfast the morning of the exam.
NWEA Fall Testing Schedule for the Secondary School
Grade 9 English and Language Arts: Nov 1 and 2.
Grade 9 Math: Nov. 3-4, Nov. 7-8.
Grade 8 English and Language Arts: Nov. 9-10.
Grade 8 Math: Nov. 14-15
Grade 7 English and Language Arts: Nov. 16-17
Grade 7 Math: Nov. 21-22
Algebra: Nov. 7-8
The make up date for all tests is Nov. 23.
