Assemblyman
John McEneny shared his love and knowledge of local history with BKW
students when he stopped by to give a guest lecture recently as part of
social studies teacher Andrew Wright’s local history course.
“He is a resource I wanted
to tap into,” Wright said. “He knows a remarkable amount about the
history of this area.”
A former Albany County Historian, McEneny said he’s always been interested in local history. He wrote and narrated WMHT Public Television’s Tricentennial Documentary on Albany and authored “Albany, Capital City on the Hudson,” the definitive text on the city’s four centuries of history.
“Local history is a special
kind of history,” McEneny said. “Things that were once known by everyone
get taken for granted and then get lost.”
