BKW has 50 seedling trees freshly planted thanks to the efforts of six secondary school students and Principal Tom McGurl.
Anna Aucompaugh, Laura Devine, Michaela Fisher, Kailah Hurst, Jessica Sawyer and Jodi White traded in their free periods for spades recently and went to work planting White Mountain Ash trees all across campus. It took three days to get all 50 trees planted.
The trees were donated to the school as part of the Arbor Day Foundation’s 4 Million Trees Project.
“Michaela did all the work. She made the connections and got the trees,” McGurl said. “It’s nice to have a student who not only takes the initiative, but also follows up. She’s really very responsible.”
