Recognition award winners announced

Audino, Hanley, Kelly, Tedeschi honored with recognition awards

They have been called tireless sports boosters, problem-solvers, out-of-the-box thinkers and impartial listeners. How They may approach their work differently, but on the evening of Oct. 25, they were all honored for the same quality: outstanding service to the BKW community.

Sports Boosters President Kimberly Audino, PTA President Tami Hanley, PTA member Donna Kelly and assistant track coach Maria Tedeschi are this year's recipients of the Board of Education Recognition Award, the highest honor the Board bestows.

Audino, an art educator, was honored for her efforts to provide art enrichment to BKW students, in addition to her tireless work to promote BKW athletics through Sports Boosters.

Hanley, now serving in her second year as president of the BKW PTA, was honored for her work with the PTA as well as her willingness to bring comments and concerns from community members to the Board, regardless of her own views.

Donna Kelly, also a PTA member, was recognized for her work to expand the role of the PTA at the Secondary School. Colleagues described her as a very proactive person who thinks outside the box.

Maria Tedeschi, an assistant track coach and BKW employee, regularly organizes community service opportunities for BKW athletes. She was honored for her efforts to involve athletes in local causes, as well as her unified approach to problem-solving.

The following staff members were honored for giving 10 years of service to BKW schools:

Academic Achievement

The following middle school students were honored for achieving a 95 percent average or better for the 2009-10 school year:

Grade 6: Patricia Dean, Justin Houck, Amanda Meehan, Jeremy Sawyer, Emelia White

Grade 7: Andrew Bub, Aaron Collins, Thomas Fisher, Samantha Flavell, Nicklas Nagengast, Anna White

Grade 8: Samuel Gerardi

 

The following high school students were honored for achieving a 93 percent average or better for the 2009-10 school year:
