Second and seventh graders connect in the kitchenMrs. Daviero’s Home and Career’s seventh grade class and Mrs. Tiffany’s second grade class teamed up to make chicken soup with rice on Feb. 16.
Tiffany’s class learned the song “Chicken Soup with Rice” by Maurice Sendak. Daviero’s class is beginning their unit of study on kitchen and food safety as well as proper kitchen tools and equipment.
Together the students peeled and cut carrots, cut celery and chicken, and measured chicken broth, rice and pepper. All ingredients were combined for the soup for both classes to enjoy.
“We were impressed by the knife skills of the second grade students as well as the facilitating of the skills by the seventh graders,” Daviero said.
“It was a huge success,” Tiffany added.
