On May 17, BKW residents will be asked to vote on a bus proposition to purchase two 28-passenger wheelchair buses and one 66-passenger bus.
The district will be reducing its fleet by selling or trading in five buses that have an estimated total trade-in value of $6,000.
The district will utilize $100,000 from its transportation reserve, five-year bonding and 70 percent state aid ($161,000) to pay for the $230,000 purchase. If approved, the bus proposition will have no impact on the local tax levy.
The five buses to be retired are all 10 years old with mileage ranging
from 123,356 to 166,948.
